Unless you are making money using that name,you should be okay.

@MchectorII
I mean, I'm not making any money now, but in a (far, far) future, I would want to stick to that name, and making money out of it....

You're likely not inside Mainland Chinese jurisdiction, so their laws do not apply to you. Also, Mainland China reverse engineers software and steals trademarked/copyrighted intellectual property all the time. You're fine.

If anything, I'd laugh my ass off if a team of Chinese lawyers sent me a cease & desist letter :P

@MchectorII , even then he has nothing to worry about :)

@Osaka

Oh okay, i see..
I just worry that if I ever wanted to make money of out my name "Soustar", the chinese company "Soustar" would just do things against me...

In response to your reply on my comment, I guarantee you have nothing to worry about. The company itself that has the name "Soustar" is likely an illegitimate money laundering front, as Mainland China is known famously for.

I assure you that they will never seek legal action against you :)

@Osaka
I see. Doing some researches, they don't even seem to have a set presence on the net, or anywhere really. Their YouTube channel only have one video, and their site shows the 2007-2015 copyright date... Even though we're in nearly in 2025!

There's a random YouTube channel owned by some "Hwang Amy", presenting the factory, written in a broken english.... Only one video that was posted 3 months ago, even though the channel was created in 2022... So two years ago...

Their official channel have only one video (low quality short), since 2016.

The site itself isn't secure, and this weird thing about the recent youtube channel "Hwang Amy" but not updating their own official site... It's weird.

Why does this Hwang have an american name?
Looking at their Alibaba page, the reviews are all written in english??? And one even thanks Amy Hwang??? Who is she???

Their photos on their site, on the "Factory Tour", they shows white people in their factory and stuff... Again, who are they???
Why is there foreigners in their factory? They don't even tell what was the event...

That's honestly so fucking creepy...

From what I know, you'd only have issues if you claimed to be the company.

I used to do marketing work and the amount of companies that share the same brand name in my area is crazy, so I wouldn't worry about it. No one really cared unless it was impacting them as a business.

along with that your art looks nothing like the brand or is promoting what they're selling and claiming you're the seller lol.

@TVisDaddy

I see, thank you for your reassurance :)

You live in France LOL. You good, man. Also it's China, the hell they going to do? Just say China number one or Taiwan belongs to China, they'll leave you alone for sure.

@BallsyMerc
Haha yes, I often worry too much but these kind of things :3

@SouSTAR
It's all good, it's okay ask others to reassure every now and then!

@BallsyMerc

Yall are so helpful, im very thankful :3
Also, i did some quick research on them, you can read my earlier reply with Osaka, this "company" is super weird lol
(๏ᆺ๏υ)

damn you are active with reviews

@HenryEYES
Art reviews?
Yes I often go to the portal and comment a lot, mainly things like compliments :3
(Also, I really give too much credit to China lol. Was worried for nothing!)

You don’t live in china. Chinese laws do not apply to you. End of story ^_^

@BlakeTakesTheCake
Yes :3

@SouSTAR There’s a chance that company might have changed its name by then but I don’t think that will happen.

@MchectorII
I see, either way this weird company is from a foreign country, a country that is generally closed to the world, and it's a manufacturing company, while I do art. Also, they aren't active and they're very disorganized. And as BlakeTakesTheCake, TVisDaddy and Ballsymerc said, companies with the same name happen often, and I don't have to worry about something that is miles away from me!

I was just worried, but thankfully it's nothing to be worried about :)

I don't know the copyright laws in France so I can't really say if you can or can't, but honestly I'd highly doubt they would care. It's not like your using the name of some big International multibillion dollar corporation like Disney or Nintendo. But if you're still worried I'd just suggest maybe naming your company after one of your series or maybe something more personal to you or something.

@ChronoNG
I don't think I have to worry after all :3
I guess copyright laws are very blurry, and it all depends on how well the company is know and things like that!

This chinese company seems to either changed its name like MchectorII said, or just were bankrupt or something. Making some searches made me realize they were very disorganized!

So yeah, nothing to worry about :)

@SouSTAR Maybe you and the others are right and some Chinese companies also do the same thing after all.

Thanks my nickname didn't use in any company

I don't think so because fireplaces and art are different industries, so it can't be argued that you're trying to deceive people into thinking you're the fireplace company

ask google to remove it because it contains "personal data"

there's a form for that

@EuropeanRat
Thank you for your help!
But there's nothing to worry about anymore it was a false alarm once again :)
Sorry! :3
