What do you like about my art? What should I improve?

Posted by SouSTAR - 15 hours ago

Hello everyone!

I'll be honest, I'm feeling a bit down (happens) so I would like to hear your thoughts about what I do :)

-If you have any criticism, suggestions, please write them!

-If you have something in particular you like about my style? I know I'm pretty inconsistent and always switch style to style, so maybe tell me one you prefer? :)

-Also, if you have a favorite work from me, or maybe even a less favorite one, I would be interested to know!

Thank you all for being awesome and cool!

I like the raw sketch-style of your illustrations, the linework itself can present a lot of significant emotion if presented correctly, all depending on the context! I also like your ability to illustrate different characters, it shows a willingness for variety and that's very important in terms of improving the range of your art design.

I'd say keep doing what you're doing :)

@Osaka

Thank you for your answer! I'll keep on the way I do then :)

You are unfiltered in creativity, I think it's a boon. Your ideas are raw and from the heart, I think you should maintain that.

@LordofRealty
Thank you very much! :)
I will continue to work this way :)

Your ideas seem from the outside to be a bottomless well. You have a great energy to your drawings that maybe is hard to see from your perspective as artist, but is actually essential to storytelling in imagery and I wouldn't sacrifice that for Polish.

There is little Polish in your work. There is little of it in mine either, because I find that more Polish = less energy.

Many many artists though view the measure of success as the measure of Polish in there drawings. Maybe you feel a little down too because you compare yourself against that mindset.

If so, I don't think it can ever hurt to learn how to do the rendering and the Polish,just so you know you've got it in your backpocket. The skills also do tend to transfer into your energetic work because you find that you become able to fit more strokes in the same amount of time. However I really dont see this as a priority for what you're trying to do.(at least what I think it is you're trying to do).

You have energetic art, appealing art, and narrative chops, which is honestly the only three criteria i judge by. You have it in spades. Plus you're young, and I think if you keep drawing even at half the rate you're doing now you will always improve steadily and steeply. You're doing great. I wanna see a eight page comic out of you someday in 2025, that'd be sick

@sleazyratbastard

Woah, thank you so much!!!!
I do see people making more polished works and I guess this what made me feel a bit down!

Will try to practice more polished works, without giving up my usual style (styles?)
I'm also practicing comics! :D

You're so cool!
Thank you for your very kind words, and encouragements!
