You don't suck at traditional at all (beautiful drawing btw!)
Try to take your photos when it's bright outside, and edit you photo to make it look brighter and vary its clarity and sharpness. It may be difficult but little by little you will get the hang of this!

And as said before, beautiful drawing, i like how you drew your shading :)
