I think it's a super cool Finn design, I really like how he drew his clothes! It's as if when he draw he add the "Chrono touch" and it improve the design XD

Her art reminds me of the good ol' 2000's slice of life mangas〔´∇｀〕

She often draw 2000's SoL manga art (Azumanga, Lucky Star) and also Vocaloids, Touhou and video games art :)

I don't wanna draw the end of the comic, im unmotivated tbh...

But! I drew like 3/4 of the comic, and it still make sense, but id prefer to draw it completely... But I'm feeling lazy... + I wanna draw something else.

No matter how much thought/motivation i put on my projects, I can't dedicate more than 2 days on them. It's actually cool i took ~one week to draw the comic!

Black cat was drawn first by somebody, then someone drew red cat, and wrote "they're friends now :)", and I drew green cat saying "Jamais deux sans trois" meaning "Never twice without a third", wich I honestly don't know how to translate/explain in English haha

Pic 1 :

This time i was trying to color a simple cube. I started with 1 (cause it's the 1st duh), which allow me to know how values works.

Then I wanted to try with colors. 2nd was drawn by using the closest cooler colors for shade and the closest warmer colors for light, without changing the value.

3rd was drawn using the 1st cube values as base, and 4th by only changing the contrast.

2nd pic:

I set the canva saturation at 0.

As you can see, 4th is a catastrophe. It's ugly. Boooo. Shading by varying the contrast is a bad idea.

3rd is very well made. We love 3rd. Do you love 3rd? Of course you do. I love the side's color.

But now, something that I can't understand : 2nd look very good in colors, although the values are the same.

I can't believe I'm learning this stuff only now. Well, better late than never

I always pick colors with no consideration on how colors works, and hide the mess with gradients and blend modes, like putting sprinkles on a burned cake

So I'm now studying! >:(

No more blend modes! No more gradients! Until i know how to color at least!

1st pic :

I tried to draw with value in mind. I read that the farther something is, the higher is its value. So i drew 1A, and set Saturation to 0 in 2A to see how it worked.

I then wanted to draw shadows. I don't know where I read this but it's something that was... Like sitting somewhere in my head lol like a random memory of some random tip. I picked the opposite of green on the color wheel (which is purple). It's something about cold/warm colors being at the opposite of the color wheel I guess

I drew 1B but something was wrong and i was right, 2B shows than the shadows values are mixing. So I drew 1C with more saturated shadows. It still look weird though I don't know why

But 1A look very good! :)

Tbh the drawing that made me want to use color more appropriately was Bacun's last drawing he posted on bluesky :

It's super simple yet beautiful. I picked some colors from his drawing in my drawing app and it's crazy to see that the color he used for the sky isn't really that bright. It's just that he used the right colors to make the scene brighter... he used value!

I don't know how to make sense of it, but how we see color depends on the lighting, the shading, the ambience, the reflection, etc.... that's just crazy. Color is crazy...

So if i want to draw beautiful and colorful art and characters, I have to know exactly what color I'll use, and why, and not throw whatever colors and hide the mess with random blend modes and gradients...
